Pizza Boxes

Custom printed pizza boxes connect a restaurant's packing routine with its brand presentation. Kehong reviews standard whole-pizza boxes, slice-box formats and printed delivery boxes around the pizza footprint, folding sequence, closure and delivery conditions.

Select the format and closure for service

A whole-pizza box needs a base and opening that let staff load and remove the pizza cleanly. A slice box serves a different portion and handling task; choose its footprint around the actual slice rather than scaling down a whole-pizza drawing.

Review how side walls fold, where tabs lock and how the lid reopens. Assemble a sample using the intended packing sequence. Check that staff can close the loaded box without pressing the lid onto the topping, and assess any ventilation detail together with heat, moisture and handling requirements.

Specify internal fit and external packing space

Use the pizza's maximum footprint, including the crust and any pad, to establish the usable internal dimensions. The closed lid needs enough clearance for the topping and any approved accessory. State whether every measurement refers to the inside or the outside.

External dimensions matter for delivery bags, shelves, bundles and outer cartons. Board thickness and folded walls affect the difference between inside and outside measurements. A nominal pizza diameter alone does not define a finished box specification.

Review board, print and food-contact surfaces

Discuss board construction, surface appearance and print coverage together. Kraft and white surfaces produce different visual starting points; assess logos and colour against the chosen substrate. Keep essential text away from folds, locking tabs and cut edges.

Specify which surfaces are printed and which may contact the pizza. Document the food type, grease and moisture exposure, contact duration, temperature conditions and target market for material review. Do not assume that a printed surface or an added pizza pad establishes suitability for every food use.

Check flat delivery, assembly and loaded stacking

If flat-packed supply is requested, review the unfolded footprint, bundle size and assembly method with storage space in mind. Agree carton quantities and transport protection before the order is packed. Compare shipping volume using the agreed packing configuration rather than the assembled-box dimensions alone.

Test the loaded combination during the intended waiting and delivery sequence. Check the base, lid, closures and stacked boxes under representative conditions, including the delivery bag. Specify the intended stack arrangement; neither a flute name nor the presence of a pad is a verified stacking rating.

Approve the pizza box as a complete delivery set

Begin with pizza and pad dimensions, artwork, quantity range, service workflow and destination. Review a structural sample for folding and fit, then a print proof or sample for the agreed surface and layout. Record any changes before approving the production specification.

Pizza pads can be reviewed alongside the box for separation, presentation and the intended food-contact arrangement. Their footprint and placement must allow closure. Material, print setup, box format, order quantity and packing method determine the quotation and schedule; confirm these as one specification.

Buying questions

Is the stated pizza diameter the box's inside dimension?
Not necessarily. A pizza diameter describes the food; a box dimension may describe the interior or exterior. Specify the maximum pizza and pad footprint, then label internal length, width and usable height on the drawing.
Can the boxes be supplied flat?
Review flat-packed supply with the selected folding structure. The unfolded footprint, bundle count, outer carton and staff assembly sequence all need to be agreed for that format.
Where should the logo go on a printed pizza box?
Start with the lid and visible side panels, keeping critical artwork clear of cuts, folds and locks. Check the assembled sample so the logo orientation works both on the counter and in a stacked delivery set.
Does a pizza pad replace a review of the box material?
No. The pad and box form one food-packaging arrangement. Review the contact surfaces and actual grease, moisture, time and temperature conditions for both components.
How many loaded boxes can be stacked?
There is no verified universal number for these custom formats. Assess the proposed board and structure with the intended pizza load, stacking pattern, waiting time and delivery conditions before approving a stack arrangement.
