What should a buyer know first?

A production-ready dieline identifies the exact structure and material, distinguishes cut and fold information, gives artwork bleed and safe areas, protects glue and functional zones, and carries a controlled revision. It must also match the confirmed dimensions and assembly method.

Lock the structure before final artwork

Confirm the box style, internal dimensions, material, closure and insert relationship. A dieline copied from another project may not fit a new product or board.

Use the current factory-reviewed drawing as the artwork base. If the structure changes, return the artwork to the revised drawing.

Make technical lines unambiguous

Cut, fold, perforation and other technical information should be clearly distinguished according to the agreed file convention. Technical lines should not accidentally print.

Identify glue areas, windows, locks and other zones where artwork or finishing requires special attention.

Prepare artwork beyond the trim

Extend backgrounds into the specified bleed and keep critical text and marks inside safe areas. Check panel orientation after folding, particularly on opposing flaps and lids.

Outline or package fonts and include linked images according to the artwork handoff requirements. Keep named spot colors intentional.

Add revision control

Include a file name or revision that can be repeated in the purchase and approval record. Remove obsolete versions from the active handoff set.
