Food Trays: selection and sample review

Choose the serving geometry

For counter service or event portions, describe the serving footprint and how the tray is held. Base shape, wall height and corner folds should follow the food and serving routine.

Specify exposure before material

Share serving temperature, oil or moisture exposure and whether food directly touches the tray. Board and surface treatment need application review; an open tray should not be assumed to contain liquids.

Check assembly and supported handling

Use a sample to check corner assembly, portion placement and lifting with the expected serving load. Include stacking before use and any liner or outer carrier in the review.

Food Trays: what to include in your enquiry

Use these points to describe your requirements. For undecided details, write Not sure / Need recommendation and share the intended use or a reference photo to start the discussion. Specifications, materials and finishes are confirmed after project review.

Share the food portion, tray base dimensions, side-wall height and preferred corner shape.

From brief to sample and quotation

  1. Share what you know

Start with the intended use, product dimensions or a reference photo, quantity and destination where known. For undecided material, structure or finish, write Not sure / Need recommendation and describe the result you need.

  2. Agree the sample and review points

A structural sample checks fit and handling; artwork or finish proofs check presentation. Agree the required sample type, material, review criteria, sample fees and timing before arranging that stage.

  3. Confirm the quotation scope

Confirm the selected specification, artwork status, quantity, delivery destination and packing form. MOQ, price and actual lead time remain subject to the quotation; flag any required contact-use documentation or testing for separate review.

Selection and quotation FAQs

Is this a finished tray or tray-making material?

This page is for finished tray projects. For material to print, cut or form yourself, browse Materials & Converting and specify the required supply form.

What if the food includes sauce or free liquid?

Describe the amount, temperature and contact time, and request an appropriate material and construction review. Do not infer liquid containment from the tray photograph.

Are the dimensions and MOQ fixed?

These pages describe packaging types for project review. Send the dimensions and quantity you need; final specifications and MOQ are confirmed in the quotation.

How is food-contact suitability confirmed?

Describe the food, contact conditions and destination market. Material choice and supporting documentation are reviewed for that use before an order is confirmed.
